First Sacrments
First Sacraments include the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Reconciliation, a Sacrament of Healing and Forgiveness, provides God's grace and mercy to the penitent seeking to rebuild his/her relationship with God. First Eucharist, a Sacrament of Initiation, is the reception of the of Jesus' Body and Blood for the first time
What are my next steps?
1. Register
First Sacraments usually are celebrated by children in grade 2 (or older!).
Immediate preparation begins with participation in Sacred Heart's faith formation program.
Registration typically opens in late August/early September.
2. Meet
Once registered, information regarding an orientation meeting will be sent out.
A parent/guardian is asked to attend orientation meetings for each Sacrament to receive all the information necessary.
First Reconciliation preparation begins in October and concludes in December. First Eucharist preparation begins in January and is celebration in the Easter Season
3. Study
Students enrolled for faith formation programming will meet on Wednesday evenings.
Students enrolled in Catholic School will study at their enrolled school.
4. Retreat
Prior to receiving the Sacraments, each child and adult is asked to attend a retreat together.
The retreats are scheduled for a Saturday morning. The Reconciliation Retreat will be in December and Frist Eucharist Retreat in April
We look forward to journeying with you and your child!
